Devastating Earthquake in Nepal — An Attempt for Sustainable Rebuilding

SADED-Nepal video call forth a question of models of reconstruction after the April 2015 earthquake. Should the reconstruction of houses be built on traditional or modern knowledge? What is affordable, and what is safe? What is the role of communities, what is the role of governments? The video describes the role SADED-Nepal has taken in the reconstruction work of the Himalayan communities.  https://vimeo.com/user41095522

Himalaya Day Celebration, September 9, 2016

SADED-Nepal celebrated Himalaya Day 2016 by organizing a couple of events in the Nepal’s Himalaya. We have chosen Kuri of Dolakha district which is located in some 3200 Miters height from sea level (photos are attached), and mobilised some 3-4 core group members to interact with locals about their life and livelihood, change in culture along with the environmental change, etc. Our main motto of organising this event was to understand the life and livelihood of the people over there.
